Venus D-Lite RuPaul’s Drag Race
He was a Season 3 competitor on RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she was eliminated first and finished 13th overall. She was young and impoverished at the time she began drag, and she didn’t have a computer or internet, so she would go to Kinkos to check her e-mail. Venus D-Lite Career
Guerra debuted as D-Lite (a Marilyn Monroe impersonator) on August 5, 2002, and made his first television appearance in 2003 on The Ricki Lake Show. His drag name was a mix of “Venus” (from Shocking Blue’s song “Venus Was Her Name”) and “D-Lite,” a moniker suggested by Guerra’s then-boyfriend and makeup artist of three years. He spent almost $175,000 on 19 procedures to appear like Madonna for his concerts. On January 24, 2011, he was introduced as a contender on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3. He was eliminated in the first episode after failing a lip sync to Vanessa Williams’ “The Right Stuff” against Shangela, and finished thirteenth.
