Watkins in One Life to Live
She made her television debut in 1994 as con artist David Vickers on the ABC soap series One Life to Live. Vickers was created by Watkins in 1994. He portrayed the character until 1996, when he temporarily returned to it in October 2001 and January 2002. Watkins made a comeback from August 2003 until November 2006, and then from March 6, 2007, for a period of five months. He made a second appearance at the end of May 2007, departed on July 26, 2007, and made a brief comeback in November 2007.
Returning for a brief second run from May 7 to August 6, 2008, Watkins won the title of “Most Entertaining Male Character” of 2008 from Soap Opera Digest, which noted that “Time and time again, David’s harebrained schemes and Tuc Watkins’s side-splitting performances provide amusement we’re always sorry to see end.” Watkins makes a second, longer visit on December 26, 2008.
After being cleared of any involvement in Victor Lord’s 1976 murder, David Cramer Lord developed feelings for Irene Manning, Tina Lord’s mother. David was compelled to wed Tina after Dorian’s alter ego Jean made him do so. Kelly Cramer, Dorian’s niece, fell in love with David and threatened to get a divorce from him if he didn’t leave her alone. David and Kelly reconciled and then fell in love again. Kelly killed David when he attempted to take Dorian’s virginity as payback. Kelly was abducted by him and restrained to a bed on Dorian’s yacht, but a fire started.
Watkins in Desperate Housewives
From Season 4 of Desperate Housewives till the present, Watkins plays Bob Hunter. In “If There’s Anything I Can’t Stand,” season four, Lee McDermott and his partner Bob Hunter relocate to a new house on Wisteria Lane. As a way of making up for her rudeness, nut-allergic Susan Delfino bakes cookies for them. But Lee is cold, and Susan keeps her face turned away. After discovering their dog, Julie, Susan’s daughter, decides to keep it in her garage in an effort to win Bob and Lee over. Susan finds the puppy for Lee when he detects it gone, and she gains his gratitude in the short term.
But the dog runs out as Susan’s husband Mike gets home, shredding Bob’s pricey Dolce suit and creating a trail that leads back to Susan’s garage. Mike informs Susan that Bob’s outfit needs to be replaced, costing $2,000. When Susan attempts to think of another way to win their approval, Mike yells at her, telling her to stop worrying.
