Toni Yates Career

Toni began her career as a reporter at WTOC in Savannah, Georgia, before moving on to WSAV as a weekend co-anchor. She has returned to her hometown twice, first as a reporter for WTLV and then as a reporter weekend co-anchor for WJXT during a second stay. She also worked two jobs in Norfolk, Virginia, one as a morning news reporter and the other as the March Of Dimes’ Communications Director.

Toni traveled up the east coast to WGAL in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she worked as a general assignment reporter. She joined WABC after several years as a weekend anchor-medical reporter at WB 17 in Philadelphia, when she was elevated to weekday anchor. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and lives in New Jersey. Toni has been active with the Girl Scouts for most of her career.

Toni also fills in as a co-anchor for Phil Lipof or Michelle Charlesworth on Saturday and Sunday Mornings on Eyewitness News. Toni’s first assignment on WABC-TV was Hurricane Beryl. When she was a WB 17 News Anchor, Yates hosted the Opening Reception for the 5th Annual Philadelphia Black Gay Pride.
