He began his acting career in commercials at the age of ten and later guest-starred in television programs before landing his first big part as ‘Will Adams’ in the NBC drama series Father Murphy, which aired from 1981 to 1983. He also appeared as Chad Everett’s son on the short-lived NBC sitcom The Rousters. He is most known for his roles as Gary Sinclair in Another World (1995–1998) and Dash Nichols in Santa Barbara (1990–1992). Gibbs received an Emmy nomination in 2000 for his depiction of the fictional character Kevin Buchanan (from 1998 to 2001) on the television series One Life to Live.
In 2003, Gibbs was utilized as a model for the creation of the video game character Max Payne in the sequel Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. In the first Max Payne game, the character was based on the series’ writer, Sam Lake. Gibbs co-founded the Alkeme Company, a media company headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, and Los Angeles, California. In 2013, Gibbs created and produced I/Nation, a television series in which he plays Sidney “Sid” Porter, a self-destructive CIA operative. Gibbs wrote all thirteen episodes that comprise the show’s first season and directed the series pilot. Gibbs, a lifetime collector, established Gibbs & Son Ltd in 2015 as a vintage furniture showroom in Sant Cugat del Valles, Spain.
