24: Legacy
He appeared as Keith Mullins, the newly appointed National Director of the Counter Terrorist Unit during Day 10 in 24: Legacy. Soon after entering, Keith was astonished to see that recently departed director Rebecca Ingram had accessed the system. When he sought to confront her about it, he was tasered and interrogated until reluctantly providing his director’s override so that they may continue their task. Despite this, he eventually ordered their arrest.
The Flash
He played Hunter Zolomon/The Flash/Zoom and Hunter Zolomon in The Flash. Hunter Zolomon, a meta-human speedster from Earth-2, turned serial killer after witnessing his mother’s death. After being impacted by dark matter, he became the supervillain Zoom, then the “hero” Jay Garrick/The Flash. Hunter flew to Earth-1 to assist Barry Allen/The Flash, but he intended to boost Barry’s speed. He fell in love with Caitlin Snow and killed a time remnant to revenge “Jay”. Team Flash learned Hunter’s actual identity, and he assassinated Henry Allen to disrupt Barry’s timeline. Time Wraiths imprisoned Hunter in the Speed Force.
To explain why there is no Earth-1 “Jay Garrick,” Hunter Zolomon’s Earth-2 counterpart stated that the local “Jay Garrick”s mother died during childbirth. Hunter was claimed to have been handed from family to family until being adopted and nurtured by the Zolomons. However, the truth of this assertion is debatable. Because the War of the Americas never occurred on Earth-1, it is likely that James Zolomon’s doppelgänger never went insane, and so the Zolomons led a regular existence.
Chicago Fire
He played CFD Chaplain Kyle Sheffield in Chicago Fire. Kyle Sheffield was the former Fire Chaplain with the CFD. He took command after Orlovsky opted to retire. In Season 8, he takes on the role of National First Responder and Peer Support Initiative Director, however the headquarters are located outside of Anderson, Indianapolis. He proposed to Sylvie Brett before proceeding in that route, to which she answered “yes”. They resided in Fowlerton, Indiana for a while, then Sylvie thought it was time to return to Chicago, which ended their engagement.
Career
Sears’ business career in New York was put on hiatus when he landed a two-year contract role on the daytime soap One Life to Live after his first audition. Following multiple appearances on Law & Order and Whoopi, he entered the William Esper Studio. This training led to appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
He co-starred in TNT’s original series Raising the Bar as public defender Richard Patrick Woolsley. Sears has starred in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, the Lifetime original film The Client List, and The Defenders, playing Thomas Cole.

From 2015 to 2016, Sears appeared in a recurring role on The CW’s DC Comics television series The Flash, first as Jay Garrick, before it was revealed that his character was Hunter Zolomon / Zoom, who later became the Black Flash. In 2017, he appeared as Keith Mullins in 24: Legacy. In 2020, Sears participated as a guest on The George Lucas Talk Show’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip marathon fundraiser.
