She was elevated to the position of weeknight weather presenter for Seven News in Brisbane in 2005. However, Cummins was relegated to weekend duties and replaced on weeknights by former Nine weatherman John Schluter as of February 2007, as the bulletin continued to lag behind Nine News Queensland and Ten News Brisbane in ratings. She occasionally served as a substitute for the local Brisbane bulletin when Sharyn Ghidella or Kay McGrath were on vacation or ill. Cummins joined Weekend Sunrise as a Sunday morning news presenter in June 2007. She held the position until July 2008, when Sharyn Ghidella took her place.

Cummins moved to Sydney in 2011 to work as a reporter and fill-in presenter on Seven Morning News and Seven Afternoon News.
