Cummins started at Seven’s Queensland bureau in Maroochydore before moving on to Cairns. She has worked in many of Seven’s bureaus in Queensland. As a reporter, she joined the Seven Brisbane staff in 2004.
She was elevated to the position of weeknight weather presenter for Seven News in Brisbane in 2005. However, Cummins was relegated to weekend duties and replaced on weeknights by former Nine weatherman John Schluter as of February 2007, as the bulletin continued to lag behind Nine News Queensland and Ten News Brisbane in ratings. She occasionally served as a substitute for the local Brisbane bulletin when Sharyn Ghidella or Kay McGrath were on vacation or ill. Cummins joined Weekend Sunrise as a Sunday morning news presenter in June 2007. She held the position until July 2008, when Sharyn Ghidella took her place.
Cummins moved to Sydney in 2011 to work as a reporter and fill-in presenter on Seven Morning News and Seven Afternoon News. Cummins took over for Jessica Rowe as Weekend Sunrise news presenter in January 2014. Cummins continued in the position until September 2016, when she went on maternity leave.
