After college, she appeared at the Hartford Stage in The Rivals, the Baltimore Center Stage in ‘Don Juan’ and started making guest appearances on TV shows. She received critical praise for her performance at the premiere of Donald Margulies’ two-person play Collected Stories at the Southcoast Repertory Theater. She then went on to record Wag the Dog while hosting Arcadia’s premiere at the Mark Taper Forum on the West Coast. Her next big role was that of Josie in Neil Simon’s Proposals, which opened at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles and then toured the country before landing at the Broadhurst Theater on Broadway. In 1997, Cryer appeared as a guest on the episode of Seinfeld in the episode ‘The Yada Yada.’ She played George’s partner Marcy, who also used the phrase ‘yada yada yada.’ In 1999, she joined the ABC comedy Two Guys and a Girl as Ashley Walker, a love affair for Berg.

She became a recurring series and continued with the program until it concluded in 2001.
