He was the drummer and keyboardist for the heavy metal band Black Tide from 2007 to 2012.

Spence grew up playing guitar and piano, which he learned by ear. The following is a list of things to do in the event of a power outage. Spence purchased his first drum set in 2001 and taught himself to play. He was accepted and enrolled in Tallahassee, Florida, at Florida State University. When he auditioned for Black Tide in 2007, he dropped out of college to tour Ozzfest and record Black Tide’s debut album Light From Above in Chicago. He was named a “Up and Coming” artist in the Modern Drummer Readers’ Poll in 2009. The following year, he won first place in the Vans Warped Tour Drum Off.
Spence would play both the drums and the keyboard while performing live with Black Tide. He also played keys and piano on several songs, including Post Mortem’s “Into the Sky” and Light From Above’s title track. Spence left Black Tide in 2012 to work on other projects. Spence also works as a DJ and composer. He has collaborated with bands such as The Mowglis and Kalin and Myles. In 2014, he co-wrote the song “I’m Good” with Clinton Sparks, The Mowglis, and Kylie Morgan. The song was written as an anthem for the Band Together Project, an anti-bullying initiative.
