Stephanie Alexander Foundation
Alexander Kitchen Garden Program was launched at Collingwood College in Melbourne in 2001. The program was inspired by Alexander’s concept that children learn about food early in life by example and pleasant experiences, which influences their eating choices throughout their lives.
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation was founded in February 2004. This non-profit organization is devoted to assisting schools in implementing enjoyable food education, teaching children how to cultivate, harvest, cook, and share fresh, seasonal, tasty food. As of December 2018, the Foundation was collaborating with over 1800 schools and early childhood centers to teach enjoyable food education, and this number is expanding. To ensure continued financing, the Foundation works with schools, governments, philanthropists, and dedicated individual donors.
Stephanie Alexandr Awards
Alexander was granted the Medal of the Order of Australia on January 26, 1969, in appreciation of his services to the hotel and tourism industries, as well as his promotion of apprentices.
