Steph McGovern Career
McGovern began her career at the BBC doing work experience on the Tomorrow’s World programme before landing a part-time job as a current affairs researcher. She worked as the main producer for daily financial news on Radio 4’s Today programme before becoming the lead producer for business news on the BBC’s One, Six, and Ten O’Clock news bulletins, where she collaborated with then-business editor Robert Peston.
McGovern has presented BBC Radio 5 Live’s Wake Up to Money and On the Money, as well as being the main business presenter of BBC Breakfast since 2010, and a regular presenter of the entire show. She appeared on CBBC’s Pocket Money Pitch.
She has co-presented the BBC One consumer series Shop Well for Less with Alex Jones since March 2016. McGovern hosted a six-part BBC series called Made in Great Britain in 2018. The show was eventually renamed Steph’s Packed Lunch and premiered in September 2020.
