As co-anchor of CBS 2 News This Morning from 2003 to 2006, Gables covered many New York City events, including the NYC Subway Centennial Celebration, the Republican National Convention, the Summer Olympics bid, the re-opening of the Statue of Liberty, the Twin Towers Memorial, the NYC Transit strike, and the 2003 Blackout. Gables started her career in broadcast journalism at KWCH-DT in Wichita, Kansas, where she reported and hosted the station’s public affairs show.

She went on to work for KWTV-DT in Oklahoma City, where she ascended through the ranks from assistant producer to education reporter and news anchor, covering Tinker Air Force Base and US military problems.
