In September 2008, Shelley joined FOX 8 the day after Hurricane Gustav made landfall in Louisiana. She’s a New Orleans native who recently came home after serving as the weekday 5:30 p.m. anchor and general task correspondent for WTOL-TV in Toledo, Ohio. Shelley attended Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans and Louisiana State University. Shelley has received four Edward R. Murrow awards, the most recent for her work on FOX 8 Defenders, which featured a limo inspection. Shelley was most known in Ohio for a series of analytical reports called “Best Newscast, News 11 at Five,” “Children for Sale,” and “Katrina: Back Home,” a first-person account of Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.
Shelley interned for Court TV and WNYW-TV FOX 5 in New York City before earning a degree in communication news coverage from LSU. Shelley revealed, developed, and secured the station’s 6: 30-night broadcast during her first on-air job at a small TV station in Houma, Louisiana. She also co-hosted a 30-minute television show on H-TV. She then went on to work at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on the weekday morning news.
