She began her television career as an associate producer at WJAR-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, before landing her first on-air job at WSAV-TV, an NBC affiliate in Savannah, Georgia. She covered the mass massacre at the Jacksonville Landing, hurricanes Michael and Dorian, and the trial of five Blood gang members accused of shooting and killing a Savannah State University student during her time in the Peach State. Ferreira joined FOX 29 News as a general assignment reporter and anchor in August 2021. Shaynah spent over two years as an anchor/reporter at WTNH News 8, an ABC station in Hartford, CT, before joining FOX 29. Her in-depth coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic and its disproportionate impact on minority communities

She also did journalism coursework in Havana, Cuba, where she worked as an executive producer on the mini-documentary “Afro-Cuba Libre,” a film about the island’s racial tensions and disparities. Shaynah is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, as well as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She is bilingual, speaking Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, and Portuguese, and she aims to use her language talents to highlight the different tales of Philadelphia residents. She enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her close family when she is not reporting the news.
