Shah returned to coaching in 2012, when he was hired as the cornerbacks coach at Utah by Kyle Whittingham. He has since continued to coach the corners while also serving as co-special teams coordinator from 2016 to 2018, before being promoted to sole special teams coordinator prior to the 2019 season.
Shah has a reputation for developing converted cornerbacks into highly successful players. Five players who converted to cornerback at Utah are Keith McGill (safety), Eric Rowe (safety), Brian Allen (wide receiver), Dominique Hatfield (wide receiver), and Josh Nurse (wide receiver – safety).
Due to a large number of injuries, Shah was asked about converting players to cornerback for the Rose Bowl game on January 1, 2022, but he said they were instead asking experienced players to do more. Shah also worked as a sideline reporter for Utah’s flagship radio station and a sideline analyst for local television stations for three seasons.
