In 1975, Bush became the first African-American female primetime news anchor on American television when she joined WGPR-TV, the world’s first black-owned and operated television station. Sharon Crews (as she was then known) later anchored news and weather at CBS and NBC network affiliates in North Carolina and Tennessee, respectively, before joining Black Entertainment Television as an Atlanta correspondent and executive producer. Bush was a morning news anchor at WGHP-TV, the ABC affiliate in High Point, North Carolina at the time. She was an executive producer for the National Blues Music Awards in 1985. She was an executive producer of the 1985 National Blues Music Awards.
