According to Moss, he wanted to be an actor since he was ten years old. He started writing jokes at the age of 15, but did not start his career until he was 23 due to anxiety and uncertainty about how the series would be produced. . Moss performed at open mic nights in Boston for months while struggling with depression. With practice and the help of friends, Moss overcame his anxiety and began performing in drama clubs six months after starting his career as a comedian. Shortly after Moss started playing at the club, he entered the Greater Boston Alternative Comedy Festival and made it to the final round. He attributes this to the success he has performed at many music festivals since the beginning of his career.
In 2007, Moss won Best Stand-up Comedy at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, shortly after performing at the Greater Boston Alternative Comedy Festival. This led to Moss being invited to appear on The Late Show with Conan O’Brien several times. He has since made a total of five appearances on Conan O’Brien’s various late-night talk shows. In 2010, Moss released his first comedy album, Jokes Make My Parents Proud. Punchline magazine named it one of the ten best albums of 2010. He used this experience as inspiration for his 2015 comedy album My Big Break. On June 18 of the same year, Moss appeared on Ken Reid’s TV Advisor podcast. His second feature film, Mating Season (2014), was released the same year.
