In the fifth season of Gotham, she played Jane Cartwright, also known as Jane Doe. Hugo Strange’s experiments gave criminal Jane Cartwright the ability to shapeshift. She had to transform into other persons because of her trauma, which made her believe she was ugly even in the face of evidence to the contrary.
Following a string of police killings in which she transformed into a number of different cops, Jane was slain in a standoff by Harvey Bullock. A few years after making her getaway, Jane started planning her retaliation against the police officers she felt had destroyed her life. She killed two more police officers involved in the Cartwright investigation at the Sirens nightclub, taking the shape of Dix, one of the investigators working on the case.
With the intention of killing Dix, she broke into his home, but she was frightened off by Harvey Bullock and Jim Gordon, so she left the Dix face mask behind.
Jim followed Jane all the way home. She assumed the shape of one of Jim’s subordinate policemen, but he caught her after figuring out the switch and witnessing the comatose officer’s corpse. Jane seized Bullock’s form in the interrogation room, twisted her hand to get free from the restraints, and choked Dix to death.
At Jane’s house, Bullock accosted her and demanded that she take off her mask. When she finally did, he was astounded to see how unremarkable she looked. Raising her revolver to shoot Bullock, she was fatally shot by him.
