In Coven, she played Cordelia Foxx, the witch headmistress of Miss Robichaux’s Academy, and in Freak Show, she played Bette and Dot Tattler, conjoined twins.

She played Ally Mayfair-Richards, a lady dealing with her phobias, in the film Cult. She plays Wilhemina Venable in Apocalypse, a malevolent lady who unleashes horrors onto the dying earth. Additionally, she mostly played Cordelia Goode, the current Supreme and headmistress of Miss Robichaux’s Academy. Ryan Murphy announced her comeback for Double Feature in February. Paulson played two roles in the film: in “Red Tide,” she played Karen, an aspiring artist, and in “Death Valley,” she played First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, a fictitious figure.

“Return to Murder House” from Apocalypse, the much-awaited crossover between the eighth and first episode of the series, was Paulson’s first film under her direction. The series explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the 1970s culture wars helped give rise to the Moral Majority and permanently shifted the American political landscape through the eyes of women of that era, including Schlafly and prominent second-wave feminists such as Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug, and Jill Ruckelshaus. Every episode begins with a notice acknowledging that some scenes and characters have been dramatized for creative purposes.
