Following the publication of pictures of Cox tanning in her underwear while on her honeymoon in 2001 by the British newspaper The People, Cox and her ex-husband Jon received a settlement of £50,000 from The People in June 2003. Cox initially complained to the Press Complaints Commission, which ruled in her favor. Cox had been photographed with a telephoto lens while on a private island. The People published apologies.
