Rydel Lynch began her professional acting career in 2008, when she appeared as a Crossroads Choir Member in the musical film Sunday School Musical. She can be seen dancing with her older brother, Riker Lynch, in the film. She also appeared in a number of commercials during this time. She and her younger brother Ross appeared in a Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360 commercial. She was also seen in a Sears commercial alongside Vanessa Hudgens. She played a cheerleader in the 2010 musical TV film School Gyrls. Her brother Riker made a cameo appearance in the film as himself. In 2011, she appeared in the short film A Day as Holly’s Kids. She appeared in Holly’s Actual Kid 2.

She was cast in the pilot episode of the television series Bunheads in 2012. She had a brief appearance as one of the Vegas Showgirls but was not given credit. She appeared in an episode of Violetta in 2015, along with her band R5. They performed their single Heart Made Up on You on the show. She made an appearance in the band’s concert film, R5: All Day, All Night, which was shown in select Regal cinemas for one night only on April 16, 2015. In the documentary, she revealed her relationship with fellow band member Ellington Ratliff.

Rydel Lynch, her brothers Riker, Rocky, and Ross Lynch, and family friend Ellington Ratliff formed the rock band R5 in 2009. Ryland, her youngest brother, was the group’s manager. They began by creating a YouTube channel and posting the web series R5 TV, which documents their daily lives. R5 signed a deal with Hollywood Records in April 2012. The following month, they embarked on their first tour, dubbed the West Coast Tour, during which she performed a cover of Call Me Maybe. On February 19, 2013, the band Loud released their debut EP. It had four songs on it, including the lead single Loud. On the day of its release, the EP peaked at number three on the iTunes chart.

On July 22, 2014, R5 released their third EP, Heart Made Up on You. It received praise from critics once more. The EP included four songs, including the title track, Heart Made Up on You, which the band has performed several times, including at We Day and on the TV show Violetta. Sometime Last Night, the band’s second full-length album, was released on July 10, 2015. Smile, the album’s lead single, was released on November 14, 2014, and was later performed live at the American Music Awards pre-show and on Good Morning America. Rydel Lynch performs the song Lightning Strikes on the album.
