Ryan Career
On his seventeenth birthday, Stout made his stand-up debut at a high school talent show. While attending the College of Santa Fe, he continued to play at poetry open-mics, albeit infrequently. In June 2001, he relocated to San Francisco, California, where the comedy scene gave him more stage time. He immersed himself there for the following four years, presenting around 300 gigs per year. He was one of the last occupants of the San Francisco Comedy Condo. Ryan Stout earned the Eagle Scout rank in 1997 and is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. As of March 2006, he resides in Los Angeles.
Ryan Stout was the winner of the 2005 Boston Comedy Festival. He is also of the few comedians to have appeared at both HBO’s The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. He made his television debut on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham in 2007. He recorded pilot episodes for two different MTV shows: “I.Q.” and a version of the hit show “Singled Out,” which was co-hosted by Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006. By the end of the year, MTV had him anchoring the talk show A Shot at Love: The Hangover. He aired a show named MTV’s Most Valuable Players and went on to headline MTV’s Spring Break 2008. He also hosted an MTV series called Ranked.
Along with his television career, he continued to perform stand-up throughout the United States, including at the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. MTV continues to offer hosting chances, including numerous new game show pilots and reunion episodes of several of the network’s reality shows. He also began appearing on WGN’s The Bob and Tom Show and E! Entertainment Television’s Chelsea Lately. Most recently, his Comedy Central Presents half-hour stand-up special debuted on April 30, 2010, earning him the #10 slot in Comedy Central’s annual Stand-up Showdown in 2011.Later that year, Stout made his late-night standup debut on Conan.
His debut album, Touché, was published on Comedy Central Records on December 6, 2011. Ryan Stout was a guest on the CTSM on January 30, 2012. On August 6, 2012, he appeared on the show WTF with Marc Maron. He played “The Announcer” in the music video “Crickets” for hip hop group Drop City Yacht Club. On January 27, 2016, he appeared on the Comedy Central show @midnight with Chris Hardwick.
