While attending the University of Alabama, McGloin interned at WDSI-TV FOX CH.61 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and ABC CH.33/40 in Birmingham. In 2004, she accepted a job as a reporter at WVUA in Tuscaloosa and eventually worked as an anchor/producer before leaving the station in August 2005. Zwier, who works as a morning news anchor at NBC affiliate WAFF-TV. He quickly established himself as an investigative reporter and won many awards for his journalism. In 2007, it won three Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards: Best Newsreel Award for “HPD Officer Shooting” and Best Investigative Feature Award for “Preschool Predator.” The story is changing the way background checks are done for daycare workers. His third award was for Best Reporter for his report titled “HPD Officer Murders, Day Care Sex Offenders and Brewery Fires.” In 2008, McGloin was promoted to weekday morning anchor/reporter and anchored the newscast from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., alongside Lee Marshall and meteorologist Jeff Castle. The team proved to be very successful and quickly became the morning news team in the Huntsville market. In April 2009, McGloin received the 2008 Best News Anchor Award (ABBY) from the Alabama Association of Broadcasters.
