Robin Sax Career
On November 24, 1997, she was admitted to the State Bar of California. She became a member of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. She joined the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office in 1999 and prosecuted sexual offenders for almost ten years. She has taught for the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the California District Attorneys Association. She has also taught in the paralegal programme at the University of California, Los Angeles and as an adjunct professor of criminal justice at California State University, Los Angeles. She was part of a multidisciplinary team at UCLA’s Rape Treatment Centre that included representatives from the Department of Children and Family Services, law enforcement, victim advocates, and social workers. In March 2010, she was a speaker at the Conference on Crimes Against Women in Dallas, Texas. She was a trainer at the California Sexual Assault Investigators Association 2010 Spring Conference.
She has appeared on NBC’s Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC News, ET, The Insider, CNN, Dr Phil, Al Jazeera America, Fox News Channel, and HLN since 2009. In 2008, Sax appeared on Steve Murphy’s nationally syndicated radio show “The Law Business Insider,” to discuss the Caylee Anthony case. In January 2009, she appeared on the “Nancy Grace Show” to discuss the Anthony case. Sax joined Fox 11 News as a legal commentator during the Dr Conrad Murray trial in 2011. She went on to become a regular legal contributor on Good Day Los Angeles and Studio 11 LA. She presented the web show “Pick A Lane,” where she and another co-host reviewed ongoing trials and legal issues.
Sax began working for Current TV in 2012 as a Producer and Legal Correspondent for The Young Turks. When Al Jazeera America bought Current TV in 2013 Sax became Manager Show Operations for TechKnow. She came on the Dr. Phil Show in January 2013 to discuss the Steubenville High School rape case, which was at the time an alleged rape of an underage adolescent girl by members of the high school football team in Steubenville, Ohio.Sax returned to the practise of law full-time in 2015. Her offices are in Century City, and she specialises in family law, dependency (juvenile) cases, victim advocacy, criminal defence, and entertainment and media. Robin is a regular fill-in host on KABC Radio 790 in Los Angeles, where she imparts her legal knowledge.
She previously represented the parents of Amber Dubois, a teenager slain in San Diego County in 2009 by convicted killer John Albert Gardner, and appeared on Larry King Live with Dubois’ mother, Carrie McGonigle. She also defended Samantha Spiegel in a stalking case against John Mark Karr, who falsely confessed to the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey. In 2016, novelist Sara Gruen engaged Sax to assist in the release of Charles Murdoch, who was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of first-degree murder in 1994.Robin began working as a clinical therapist in 2016 to complete her Master of Social Work degree. She works at nimo Inglewood Charter High School as a clinical therapist.
Robin joined the Violence Intervention Programme in 2018, where she is now a programme manager and clinical therapist for the Alexis Project at LAC+USC Medical Centre. The Alexis Project is a collaboration between The Alexis Arquette Family Foundation and the LAC+USC Medical Center’s Violence Intervention Programme (VIP). The Alexis Project is an expansion of VIP’s signature LGBTQ+ medical, mental health, and support programmes. Robin routinely teaches doctors, members of the community, educators, and medical personnel on LGBTQ+-affirming care, treatment, and rights. Robin established Dear Co-Parent in 2020. Dear Co-Parent draws on Robin’s experience as a lawyer and therapist to aid people dealing with custody and family law challenges or lawsuits. Robin has appeared in court as an expert witness in criminal law and family law matters relating to child abuse, sexual assault, criminal prosecution, and child custody.
