At Louisiana State University, Roberts was given the scholarship to play basketball. She felt the school was too big and impersonal and instead preferred the University of Southeastern Louisiana. As the school’s third all-time leading scorer and rebounder, she finished her career. One of only three Lady Lions to score 1,000 career points and grab 1,000 career rebounds is Roberts.
In February 1990, Roberts joined ESPN as a sportscaster. She was promoted to Good Morning America co-anchor in 2005. As co-host of GMA, Roberts was joined by George Stephanopoulos in December 2009. In December 2009, the Roberts-Stephanopoulos team guided GMA back to the top of the ratings. Roberts co-anchored the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19, 2018.
