S. Woods One Life to Live

Robert appeared as Bo Buchanan on the ABC soap One Life to Live. Bo, a Vietnam War veteran (Woods was a soldier as well), moves to the made-up city of Llanview in 1979 after his brother Clint does, coming from their home state of Texas. Clint had taken a job at The Banner, the main newspaper in Llanview, taking over for Joe Riley, Victoria Lord Riley’s sick husband at the time.

Bo is not very fortunate when it comes to relationships; along the years, he had numerous breakups, two spouses (Sarah Gordon in 1992 and Didi O’Neill in 1988), and a fiancée (Gabrielle Medina in 2004). He also explores a variety of careers, such as being a producer for films and television shows and an executive in the music industry. Bo created Llanview’s own soap opera, Fraternity Row, in the late 1980s. It is claimed that in 2008, Bo helped rapper Snoop Dogg get his start in show business and forged a connection that has lasted a lifetime between the two. Bo is appointed Llanview’s Police Commissioner in 1995.

In October 1992, Bo first meets lawyer Nora Gannon. That Thanksgiving, he and Sarah are in a hit-and-run accident where Sarah dies. Bo and Nora collaborate closely throughout the course of the following few months in an effort to find the murderer. Once the matter is ultimately settled, the two become great friends, and after sharing a kiss on New Year’s Eve, their friendship gradually develops into romance. After their first date in Serenity Springs, the pair goes on a number more dates where they consume junk food and get nervous.

April 1993 marks Bo and Nora’s first kiss, and May 1993 marks their “I love you” declaration. But when Nora’s ongoing headaches get worse, she starts to suspect that she was the one responsible for Sarah’s death-causing accident.Bo quickly disproves this and makes a marriage proposal. Despite having a brain tumor, Nora makes a full recovery. On June 1, 1995, Bo and Nora tie the knot in St. James Church under the direction of Rabbi Heller, Little Richard, and Reverend Andrew Carpenter.

When his son Drew Buchanan, a police officer, is killed in October 1998 while performing his duty, Bo is distraught. In a desperate attempt to conceive and give her spouse a reason to live, Nora turns to her ex-boyfriend Sam Rappaport. Bo is helped back on his feet by the pregnancy, but he and Nora later got divorced in 1999 after it was discovered that Sam was the father of Nora’s son Matthew. The truth—that Matthew is Bo’s son—does not surface until after Sam’s death in 2003. Throughout his life, Sam had known this and had concealed it.

When Bo and young Rex Balsom go back in time to 1968 in July 2008, Bo finds himself reliving his past as Asa Buchanan, his own father, and Rex is Bo. In the end, they both come back as history repeats itself, with Rex being the exception while Bo has an affair with Emma Bradley, Asa’s former lover. This proves crucial in February 2009 when a paternity test finds that David Vickers, who was previously identified as Asa’s kid by Emma based on a DNA test, is actually Bo’s son.
