The Homecoming is a television series about the family of journalist and novelist John Walton Jr. The oldest of the seven children, John-Boy, goes on to become a journalist and novelist. A lumber mill and small-scale farming supplement the family’s income. The youngsters grow up in a tiny village with people from all walks of life and different income levels. Olivia and Grandma Esther are the most regular participants at their Baptist church. The series concludes with the family residence engulfed in darkness, with voice-overs narrating the happenings.
