Richard Morecroft Biography
Richard Morecroft is an English-born Australian radio announcer, television newsreader and broadcaster, and environmentalist. He hosted the Adelaide News bulletin before becoming the long-running host of ABC News NSW’s nightly broadcast from 1983 to 2002. He presented the quiz program Letters and Numbers from 2010 until 2012.

Morecroft worked with ABC’s Natural History Unit on the creation of Raising Archie, a documentary about a flying fox that he nurtured and kept under the news desk while at work. In 2002, he left the ABC and was replaced by Tony Eastley. After that, he underwent a complete transformation and moved in with his partner, artist Alison Mackay, to a property near Jervis Bay. In 2002, Morecroft utilized his enthusiasm for environmental issues when he returned to the ABC to serve as the host of Richard Morecroft Goes Wild. He was going to host Letters and Numbers on SBS Television in 2010, which is an Australian version of the French game show Des chiffres et des lettres, which is the basis for the British game show Countdown.
