Ayoade The IT Crowd
He appeared as Maurice Moss in the British sitcom, The IT Crowd. Born circa 1973, Maurice Moss (often mispronounced as “Maurice Mozz”) works in Reynholm Industries’ IT department. He is the most capable, the most experienced, and the hardest-working employee in the IT Department. He works very hard at his work, but he never seems to receive the recognition he deserves. Like most of the department, the higher-ranking staff on the upper floors treat him with contempt and disregard.
Moss is an industrious worker in the IT department who likes to work with computers and is frequently teased. Although he is knowledgeable and skilled in many areas, he occasionally acts naive and immature in social settings. Jen’s menstrual cycle caused emotional shifts for Moss and Roy, but both bounced back swiftly from their night out. He has a number of illnesses and phobias, such as myopia, virgivitisphobia, policophobia, arachnophobia, and asthma. In addition, he fears going to prison greatly. Computers, Masters of the Universe, Tek Wars, Magic the Darkening, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off are among Moss’s favorite things.
Ayoade’s Travel Man
He was the host of the British television travel documentary series Travel Man. In each episode, the show’s host travels to a well-known location with a celebrity guest to give viewers ideas for what to do during a two-day (48-hour) break. Light humor, consumer advice, and a fast-paced structure define the series.
Channel 4 revealed in July 2019 that comedian Joe Lycett will take over as host of the show following the ninth series, succeeding Richard Ayoade. The debut episode of his show aired on December 27, 2021. North One Television produces it for Channel 4. In Australia, SBS On Demand and SBS Television both air it.
Ayoade Books
In addition to writing the children’s book The Book That No One Wanted to Read (2022), illustrated by Tor Freeman, Ayoade is also the author of three humorous film-focused books: Ayoade on Ayoade: A Cinematic Odyssey (2014), The Grip of Film (2017), and Ayoade on Top (2019). Ayoade on Ayoade: A Cinematic Odyssey, Ayoade’s debut book, was released in October 2014 by Faber and Faber. In a spoof of Faber’s Directors on Directors series, which features acclaimed directors talking about their work, Ayoade does a number of made-up interviews with himself in which he talks about his passion for movies and his work. The Grip Of Film, his second book, was released in October 2017.
Written from the viewpoint of naive movie enthusiast Gordy LaSure, it includes Ayoade’s footnotes along with an A-Z list of great movies and their qualities. His third book, Ayoade on Top, was released by Faber and Faber. It is a lighthearted tribute to the much criticized romantic comedy View from the Top, which starred Gwyneth Paltrow. Ayoade was voted 33rd out of the 50 greatest comedians of the twenty-first century in a 2019 list released by The Guardian, and The Financial Times featured Ayoade on Top in its compilation of the finest books of 2019.
