Career
Ballard graduated from Ballard High School, where he was a quarterback, and earned a full football scholarship to Southern Methodist University, where he studied acting. Just before his senior year, Ballard transferred to the University of Missouri, where he continued to play football and act, appearing as C.J. Memphis in the school’s production of “A Soldier’s Tale.” Ballard turned down an offer from a professional football team to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. He has appeared in various television shows, including Veronica Mars (an episode of The Return of Kane), The Park, Sisters, Sisters, Only Jordan, the short series, Breadcrumbs” and “Raven’s House”. He played Butch in the independent film “Bad One”. Nothing” Ballard currently does stand-up comedy. He is also a Ball High School veteran.
He was the Towers’ leading offensive player and helped High Ball to a 7-3 record in his senior season in 1983. Only 60.9 yards allowed per game. Ballard spent his first three years of college football with the SMU Broncos, but after the SMU football program came under criticism for NCAA violations, Ballard transferred to Missouri State for his senior year. He said he became interested in acting after studying drama at university, “getting lost on stage” and listening to people applaud. He also appeared as the “Bruh Man” character in Big Sean’s “Play No Games” music video and lip-synced to Ty Dolla $ign’s character in the song. He will lend his voice to a security guard from the upcoming streaming service Monsters at Work on Disney+.
