Throughout the 2000s, he appeared in a variety of shows, including Malcolm in the Middle, Las Vegas, Bones, Girlfriends, and The Office. He played Kendall in The Closer from 2008 to 2017. Doherty was recently seen on Shameless and NCIS. Doherty also works as a teacher in the Los Angeles area, specializing in special education students.
He was bitten by the acting bug while attending C.D. Hylton High School in Dale City, Virginia. Julie Clarke, the head of the Drama Department, encouraged him to take the stage. Pam Arkin, a theatre department chair and acting teacher at Longwood College, then encouraged him to major in the subject. Taking her advice, he earned a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance. He’s been on a roll since his arrival. He has not only appeared in several hit shows as a guest star, but he has also appeared in several national commercials and print advertisements.
