Rachel Khoo Cookbooks
She worked at La Cocotte, a Parisian cookbook store and café, where she taught baking classes and was the store’s pastry chef after graduating from Le Cordon Bleu. Khoo opened a small restaurant to test recipes for her first English-language cookbook, The Little Paris Kitchen, after successfully pitching her concept for a new cookbook to publishers in the UK.
My Little French Kitchen, Khoo’s second cookbook written in English and based on her travels through France, was published by Michael Joseph in September 2013. Khoo spent two years working in public relations for the t-shirt manufacturer Thomas Pink after graduating from college. Searching for “experience” in her life and without any information on French, she quit her place of employment and required a three-month patisserie course at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris in 2006. She sold perfume at Printemps, an upscale department store, and worked part-time as an au pair in Paris.
In 2010, Khoo signed her first publishing contract for two cookbooks in French: Pâtes à tartiner and Barres à céreales, muesli et granola maison, both published by Marabout. Rachel Khoo’s Muesli and Granola and Rachel Khoo’s Sweet and Savory Pâtés were both later published in English. She also worked as a freelancer for Volkswagen briefly in Germany, where she managed events related to food.
BBC television aired A Cook Abroad on March 9, 2015: Malaysia, where Rachel Khoo learned about the country’s cuisine and visited the home of her father’s extended family. Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook, the fourth television series created by Khoo: Melbourne, debuted in Australia on 23 July 2015 on the organization SBS. She was announced as a new judge for the seventh season of the Australian television cooking competition My Kitchen Rules in February 2016. Khoo recorded the program in 2015 while going all through Australia. The new season premiered on the Seven Network on February 1, 2016. The show has six episodes with Khoo.
In February 2016, Khoo launched Khoollect, an online lifestyle, fashion, and food blog. As of 2020, the blog no longer exists. Together with pastry chef Adriano Zumbo, Khoo filmed Zumbo’s Just Desserts in Sydney in April 2016. Khoo was one of the judges for the television show that was ordered by the Seven Network.
