She has starred in a variety of American productions, including television documentaries about Natalie Wood and the development of Dynasty (in which she played Catherine Oxenberg), as well as the horror films Man-thing and See No Evil. Her most notable performance to date was as Maggie, a signals analyst, in the 2007 film Transformers, with Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf. Taylor revealed that she will not be returning for the sequel to Transformers. Taylor starred in the 2008 horror-thriller Shutter, a remake of the 2004 Thai film of the same name, opposite Joshua Jackson.  Despite receiving mixed reviews, the picture was a commercial success.

Taylor appeared in the short-lived adaptation of the television series Charlie’s Angels in 2011. Taylor appeared in Jessica Jones as the titular character’s best friend Trish Walker in 2015. She would return to the part in a voiceover appearance in Luke Cage in 2016, The Defenders in 2017, Jessica Jones’s second season in 2018, and the series’ final season in 2019. Taylor co-starred with fellow Australian Isabel Lucas in the 2014 thriller The Loft, a remake of the 2008 original.  Taylor portrayed Rachel Hill in the 2016 film Gold.
