Punkie Johnson, an American comedian and actress, is based in New York City. She started her career as a stand-up comic at The Comedy Store in California, before becoming a featured player on the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.

Johnson started off with stand-up comedy. Later, she became a paid regular at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Johnson gave a performance at Just for Laughs in 2019. As an actress, Johnson has had appearances in a number of TV shows, including Adam Ruins Everything, Corporate, A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Space Force. Johnson was chosen to appear on Saturday Night Live as a featured performer beginning in the 46th season in 2020. Prior to the start of the 48th season, in 2022, she received a promotion to repertory rank. Johnson is the second black LGBT woman to be a cast member (after Danitra Vance, who was not officially out during her lifetime), the eighth black female cast member in the history of the show, and the seventh LGBT cast member overall.
