Pauly Career

Inspired by her parents’ careers in theater and show business, Shore, at 17, made her debut at the Alley Cat Bistro in Culver City. “Everyone in school was taking the SATs, but I sent mine back. I knew I wouldn’t get into college.” Shore landed several shows under the management of Sam Kinison. While on the comedy club circuit, Shore created an alter-ego character named “Weasel.” In “Weasel,” Shore spoke in surfer lingo and added masculine terms like “angry,” “melon,” and “crash,” along with catchphrases like “Hey, THIS-DDY.” Shore’s big break came as a news anchor for MTV, a position she held from 1989 to 1994. At the height of his MTV fame, Shore had his own show, Totally Pauly, and hosted MTV’s annual Spring Break. He also released a video called “Lisa, Lisa, I Adore.”

Shore’s 1992 appearance in the film The Encino Man caused quite a stir. The film’s success led to Shore appearing in several less-than-successful films: Sons of Law (1993), Army Now (1994), Jury Duty (1995), and Creature Dome (1996). All five films received negative reviews, with the latter three receiving less than 10% on Rotten Tomatoes; each film also grossed less at the box office than the last. Film critic Roger Ebert wrote of Shore’s performance in the film, “Shore has passed all categories for success. -on- The Blackboard Effect was canceled after five episodes. Edge guest-starred as the pizza delivery boy in American rock band Limp Bizkit’s music video for “N 2 Gether Now”,[7][8] and made a brief appearance in “Items”. In the 1990s, they were nominated for the Rising Star Award and Star of the Century Award for Worst Actor (he lost to Sylvester Stallone).
