Abdul was noticed by some of ‘The Jacksons’ members and was immediately offered the opportunity to choreograph their hit single ‘Torture,’ which became a huge success. Throughout the 1980s, she was flooded with offers to choreograph music videos for a variety of celebrities and singers. She was the official choreographer for the ‘Victory’ tour by The Jacksons. Her debut pop album, ‘Forever Your Girl,’ was a huge success in 1988. Three years later, she released her next album, ‘Spellbound,’ which went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time. She released another pop album, ‘Head Over Heels,’ in 1995 on Virgin Records. Some of the album’s singles became club anthems.

She released a dance workout video titled ‘Paula Abdul’s Get Up and Dance!’ in 1995. Three years later, she released her second video, ‘Cardio Dance,’ which was also a huge success. She left the music industry to choreograph sequences for a number of theater and film productions, including ‘Reefer Madness’ and ‘American Beauty.’ She played herself in the 1998 television film ‘The Waiting Game.’ She made an appearance in an episode of ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch’ in 1999. The same year, she appeared in ‘The Wayans Bros.’ as ‘Sasha.’ She debuted in the music industry in 2000, with the release of ‘Paula Abdul: Greatest Hits,’ a collection of all her songs to that point.
