Paul Henry Breakfast

Henry worked as a breakfast host on 2ZD Wairarapa from 1986 to 1990. Henry departed 2ZD in 1991 to launch competitor radio station Today FM, where he hosted the station’s breakfast show. Hilary Pankhurst, Georgina Beyer, Rick Long, and former 2ZD station manager John Shearer were among the other famous Today FM employees. Henry sold the station to the proprietor of Port FM in 1992.

Henry went on to work for Radio Pacific as a foreign correspondent and weekend talkback host, ultimately hosting the breakfast show The Morning Grill with Arch Tambakis and then Pam Corkery. He also hosted the station’s drive show and was the first drive presenter at Radio Live when it debuted in 2005. Henry was named co-host of TV One’s Breakfast in 2004. The show’s ratings increased to over 150,000 viewers in 2009, up from a base of roughly 100,000.

Paul Henry Career

In October 2010, Henry had to apologize and later left TVNZ after debate over his elocution and disparagement of the name of Indian lawmaker Sheila Dikshit, as well as remarks made about the then-Lead representative General of New Zealand, Sir Anand Satyanand. In a meeting the next month, Henry guaranteed that TVNZ, specifically CEO Rick Ellis, had “promoted” on him by empowering him to be dubious live, adding that he accepted it was off-base for the New Zealand Government to apologize to India for his comments.

On 1 April 2011, MediaWorks New Zealand declared Henry would get back to Radio Live in July, supplanting Maggie Barry as the host of the station’s drivetime show, a position he had held four years beforehand. His residency in the job would this time last over a portion of a year; Henry moved to Australia the next year to have Organization Ten’s new morning show.

Henry started his telecom vocation working for the BBC, as a studio right hand and in the sorting room. He filled in as a projectionist in the regular history unit, where, as per the Sunday Star Times, “David Attenborough would come in and Henry would play the surges”. Henry got back to New Zealand when he was 19 and functioned as a maker on Public Radio.
