Browne’s professional broadcasting career began in radio, where she worked as a morning-drive news anchor/writer at WLIM-AM on Long Island, NY. Browne’s first television job was as a nightly anchor and News Director for WLIG TV 55, which was broadcast on Long Island and in New York City.
Browne began her network affiliate career as a full-time anchor/reporter at WSJV-TV in South Bend, Indiana, which was the region’s ABC network affiliate at the time and is now a Fox affiliate. Browne was in charge of the station’s Michigan Bureau. Browne has joined News 12 Long Island, Long Island’s 24-hour cable news television channel that covers Nassau and Suffolk counties. She worked as a general assignment reporter for several years, covering major stories alongside New York City reporters.
Browne was praised for her live coverage from the scene of Colin Ferguson’s Long Island Rail Road shooting, as well as her unscripted anchoring of TWA Flight 800’s crash. Browne broadcast live from Manhattan in 1993, covering the investigation into the World Trade Center bombing. She covered national issues affecting Long Island from Washington, D.C.
