Omari Latif Hardwick is an American actor best known for his roles as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in Starz’s Power and Vanderohe in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead (2021). He is a talented poet who placed in the top five of the 2003 and 2004 US National Poetry Slam competitions. He also co-founded Los Angeles’ Greenway Theater’s “Actors Lounge,” where young actors perform dramatic sketches for audiences, directors, and producers.

Omari Hardwick Career

Hardwick initially pursued a football career after graduation, hoping to join the San Diego Chargers. He declared for the NFL Draft but was not selected, so he returned to acting. Hardwick worked odd jobs to pay for acting classes. He started living in his car after being unsuccessful, and he finally got his break in the 2004 TV movie Sucker Free City. Following that, he landed roles in the feature film The Guardian and as a series regular in Saved. He spent two years training as a firefighter and paramedic for the role. Hardwick appeared briefly as an extra in Floetry’s “Say Yes” music video in 2002. He won an award for his participation in the National Poetry Slam.

Hardwick became a co-founder of the Los Angeles Greenway Theater’s “Actor’s Lounge” and a founding member of “Plan B Inc. Theater Group.” He also established the production company “Bravelife Films.”  Hardwick was also featured in the Holiday issue of Prominence Magazine, an urban lifestyle publication. Hardwick reading a poem at The National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Alabama in 2020, with Congresswoman Terri Sewell watching. Hardwick’s performance as “Troy” in the critically acclaimed indie hit I Will Follow earned him his best film reviews to date. Hardwick appeared as Chris Novak, a hard-luck criminal facing prison, in an episode of NBC’s Chase. Hardwick was cast as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the lead role.
