In 2013, she worked for Anthony Weiner’s failed mayoral campaign for four weeks. Nuzzi joined NSFWcorp in July of that year, and she discussed her experience in a blog post on the website. Weiner referred to her and the other 20 female interns as “Monica” because he couldn’t remember their names. She went on to write several other articles for the website about the campaign. Later, she was hired by the New York Daily News to write a follow-up piece on the same subject.
Nuzzi was allowed to accompany NSFWcorp’s sex and science editor Leigh Cowart and one other staffer. In an interview, she stated that, while she did not want to leave the news organization at the time, there were no animosities between “her and anyone on the staff or within the company.” She was hired by ‘The Daily Beast,’ where she covered Republican presidential candidates Rand Paul and Chris Christie. She frequently wrote about Donald Trump’s meteoric rise as a political leader. Nuzzi gradually rose to prominence as a respected political analyst and journalist. ‘Politico’ named her one of the “16 Breakout Media Stars” of the 2016 presidential election in November 2016. Since February 2017, she has been employed at the ‘New York’ magazine as their first ever Washington correspondent and reports on the Trump administration and Congress for the print magazine and its “Daily Intel” blog.
