Nikol Hasler is an American internet content creator, producer, writer, and filmmaker most known for her work on Midwest Teen Sex Show and her candid, straight, dark humor. Hassler gained attention in 2008 as the host of the Midwest Teen Sex Show podcast, a comedy program known for its frank discussion of teen sex. The show led her to move to Los Angeles with her three children in June 2009. That summer, she produced and wrote a TV show as well as a website for Comedy Central and wrote a book about teen sex. Comedy Central did not air the show, but her book, Sex: A Book for Teens, was published in June 2010. I don’t mind this nonsense, these stereotypical Angelenos, because they give me something bad to do. Sunshine. Food. Warm people. That’s right. This place is great.
Hasler was interviewed in the January/February 2009 issue of PLoS (Chapter 47, Issue 6). On May 14, 2009, it was announced that Nicole’s Midwestern Teen Sex Show, a video podcast about teen sex, would be developed into a Comedy Central series. However, in September 2009, Hassler announced that Comedy Central had not picked up the series. In addition to Midwest Teen Sex Show, Hassler has contributed to projects for numerous publications and media outlets. Featured on PiC.tv, Real American Family tackles important family issues such as being a single parent, making healthy food choices, preparing for the school year, and more, with Nicole’s passion and sense of humor. She and her team also created an online safety video for teens called “Don’t Be a Badass Online”;
spin-off sequel to Crushable, “Sex, Honesty”, in February 2010. She also writes a column for Milwaukee Magazine called “Love, Sex, and More.” In May 2010, Hassler’s book Sex: A Book for Young Adults was released on Amazon.com. It is published by Zest Publications of San Francisco. The back cover of the book features former surgeon Dr. Jocelyn Elder and author Betty Dodson. In July 2010, Hassler accepted a production job at the nonprofit organization One Economy Corporation (a subsidiary of PiC.tv) and immediately began producing videos about the pregnant boy, later reprising this as “The Real American Family” and crew.
