Monica wasn’t hired at first, but she was later hired when some of the recently hired young colleagues departed and attempted to join Louis Canning’s rival firm in order to undermine one of the firm’s cases.

While Bates was being held for theft, Jerome killed four men by sabotaging a weapons purchase. He killed two undercover police officers and strayed from the planned path through the woods, two faults he committed. Bates and Jerome plotted a second murder and robbery in which they would break into a cartel stronghold using a metal lock pick. Bates called her ex-partner for medical assistance after breaking her ankle. They took refuge in a hotel room, where Jerome used a map to make his dyslexia known. They were each arrested and placed under separate custody. Jerome’s dyslexic thinking was revealed to his ex-girlfriend Goren through his spatial reasoning. Although Bates entered a guilty plea to evade the death penalty, Jerome continued to blame him for the deaths. In return for her testimony against Jerome, who was hanged in prison, she was given a life sentence without the possibility of release.
