Nick Thune is an American actor, comedian, and musician. Nick Career
Thune relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in stand-up. His early stand-up gigs centered on wordplay while he played the guitar, which he claims was utilized as a prop rather than to produce musical comedy. He has appeared on The Tonight Show eight times and in a Comedy Central Presents special in 2007. Thune performed at the University of Southern California’s DTD Reality concert in February of 2009. Thune’s debut album, Thick Noon, was released on February 23, 2010, through Comedy Central Records.Thune’s debut hour-long stand-up special, Nick Thune: Folk Hero, was released on Netflix in February 2014. The special was eventually published on CD and vinyl.
His second hour-long program, Good Guy, aired on NBC’s Seeso platform on December 22, 2016. The special was shot in October 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Much of the special was based on Thune’s views before having his first child. The special marks a departure from his usual style, as he does not utilize his guitar during the performance. After fracturing his arm in Tampa, he began performing without his guitar, and as he continued to work without the instrument, he found how much he enjoyed performing without it. Thune was cast as the lead in the 2010 NBC pilot Beach Lane, opposite Matthew Broderick. However, the pilot was not taken up into a series.
Thune and his creative collaborator Kevin Parker Flynn collaborated on a pilot in 2016 called Holy Sh*t, a workplace comedy about a local church avoiding a mega-church takeover. The pilot was created by Mila Kunis’ production firm. During Season 1 of HBO’s Love Life, Thune appeared as Magnus in one of the relationships opposite Anna Kendrick. Thune played minor roles in the films Knocked Up and Unaccompanied Minors. Thune portrayed the titular role in the 2017 film Dave Made a Maze. He also appeared in the film People You May Know, directed by Sherwin Shilati.
