Career

Adams, who is black, is the author of the book “Being Friends with Black People,” in which he describes the humorous but effective “culture” of racial discrimination. Adams lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife. She is also a member of the Los Angeles chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. In an interview with National Public Radio reporter Ed Gordon, Adams said “anxiety” was the driving force behind writing “Being Friends with the Black Man.” She lived in Tucson, Arizona, which did not have a large black community at the time. Adams stated that the tone of his book leaves people “open” to something he said could be considered violence. In the book, Adams discusses many issues related to black people, including his preference for the word “Negro” over “African-American.” “It makes more sense in every way than the other paths,” Adams said. “Phonetically speaking, this is not a contest. It’s a battle of monosyllabic and polysyllabic hyphens. Black wins easily. It paints a picture of what we’ve always been true to, when other terms don’t begin to portray the haute bourgeois image of the bourgeois image.”

“NBC is developing a show based on the book “Friends When Black,” a buddy comedy that will focus on the state of race relations in America.” Race issues have always emerged in the national consciousness and then disappeared. “People are talking a lot about race now that Barack Obama has been elected president,” Nick Adams said. We want to value that and not let the conversation stall. …This seems like a great opportunity to strike while the iron is hot. It’s about two people, one African American, one white, who are good friends but don’t see things the same way. Adams will serve as an executive producer on the project, with Marketing’s Dianne Fraser and Eryn Brown serving as executive producers. Adams is currently a writer on Fox’s “New Girl.” She was the writer of the first season of “Fancyman” and the writer of the second season of “Pepperwood”.
