In 1992, she became one of the first “video journalists” on NY1 (New York One), Time Warner’s all-news cable channel for New York City. Loo covered the health beat as a VJ, working as a videographer and filming her own stand-ups in front of the camera. She was also a fill-in anchor, and she received the Women in Cable National Anchor of the Year Award for anchoring nonstop from 4:00 p.m. to 1:15 a.m. on the day of the World Trade Centre bombing in 1993. Because the blast knocked out the rooftop antennas that broadcast signals for other New York City television stations, NY1 was the only local TV news outlet that remained “on the air” that day.

WABC-TV, the ABC station group’s flagship, hired Loo as a general assignment reporter in 1994 and later created an on-set daily health news segment for her on the early morning newscast. In early 1996, she spent a week in London filming medical reports. After a few months, she was promoted to co-anchor the morning and midday newscasts. She went into labour during a morning newscast in March 1997, but finished the show before driving herself to a hospital in Westchester County, where she gave birth to her second child. That year, the newscast won an Emmy for best morning newscast in New York. Loo relocated to Chicago in 2001 to co-anchor the early morning newscast on Fox-owned WFLD-TV.

Loo began working for WGN-TV in Chicago, Illinois, as a primary reporter on the morning and midday newscasts on June 1, 2010. She also serves as a substitute anchor for the morning, midday, and weekend newscasts. She also frequently contributes to the afternoon and evening newscasts with special segments. Loo is regarded as a pioneer in the use of social media by journalists. She uses Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms to promote WGN newscasts by posting videos, photos, articles, comments, and questions. Her “Big Tiny World” blog on WGNTV.com is one of the most popular on the site. Loo also appears on the webcast ChicagonistaLIVE!, produced by www.Chicagonista.com and billed as Chicago’s first “Social Talk Show,” a unique and interactive programme.b
