Takahashi’s first foray into television came in 1980, while he was still a student at Concordia and a journalist for the university paper The Georgian, on a pilot project between CFCF and CUTV, the Concordia University television station. She then took over as host of Our City, a half-hour show that aired Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on channel 12. In 1982, she began her radio career as Lisa Takahashi and then moved on to CFCF in Montreal as a news reporter. After four years, she was named news anchor for Pulse (now CTV News) alongside veteran Bill Haugland, who retired in 2006. She also played news anchors in a couple of made-for-TV films.
Takahashi is the noon and weeknight anchor for CTV News Montreal. Takahashi was frequently named “Best Local Newsreader” in the Montreal Mirror’s Best of Montreal polls, and he continues to do so with Cult MTL’s continuation of the Best of Montreal tradition. Takahashi is a notoriously private woman whose catchphrase is “It’s all about the news.” It isn’t about me. And it will never be.” She has no social media presence and rarely gives interviews. One of the few times she agreed to an interview was in May 2017, prior to receiving a lifetime achievement award from RTDNA Canada. Takahashi is a Canadian who was awarded the Order of Canada in 2018.
