Moses worked for various Emerson College news shows, including Good Morning Emerson and Emerson Independent Video, as an anchor and reporter (EIV). He interned at ABC WCVB-TV 5 with Karen Holmes Ward, honing his writing skills while producing a 30-minute news piece about Haitians with Temporary Protected Status in Massachusetts (TPS). He developed his on-air and writing skills through an internship at Arlington Community Media, Inc., and he stayed in Los Angeles for three months as a Dateline NBC intern with Lester Holt. He moved across the country from Maine after hearing about a job opportunity with 17 News and fell in love with Bakersfield right away. He’s ecstatic to spend time here and learn more about the city.
KLYD-TV, an ABC affiliate, launched Channel 17 on November 8, 1959. It’s one of the few television channels that began as a daytime-only radio station. In 1969, the station’s call signs were changed to KJTV, then in 1978, they were changed to KPWR. The station’s call letters were changed to KGET-TV on February 1, 1984. Channel 17 moved from its original studios on Eye Street to its current studios on L Street in 1997. (in a building formerly owned by Pacific Bell) In May 2008, Newport Television agreed to sell KGET and five other stations to High Plains Broadcasting, Inc.; the deal was completed on September 15, 2008, and Newport continued to manage KGET through shared services agreement.
