Melissa Doyle Sunrise

Before being asked to lead a redesigned Sunrise program with Chris Reason, who was later replaced by David Koch, Doyle returned to Seven from her maternity leave and took on a variety of news and presenting roles. Under the direction of Executive producer Adam Boland, Doyle and Koch triumphed over their previous rivals and market leaders on Today on the Nine Network. During Doyle’s time on the show, they transformed the program, which had almost no viewers, into Australia’s most popular breakfast television show. She was then named the ‘Sovereign of Australian Brekky television’.

In 2003, Doyle partook in an extremely open pregnancy with her subsequent youngster, who was brought into the world in December of that year. In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, Doyle was up for the Most Popular Television Presenter award at the Silver Logie. In that category, she was the only female nominee.

Doyle was accused of identifying a minor who was divorcing his parents during legal proceedings. The boy, who was only 14 years old at the time, could not be identified because the divorce case was being heard in the Victorian Children’s Court. However, Sunrise and a number of other news outlets, including Today Tonight and the Sunday Herald Sun, allegedly identified him, and the journalists and presenters were charged with contempt of court. The journalists, presenters, and hosts were all found not guilty, but the Seven Network, its news director, executive producer of Today Tonight, and editor-in-chief of the Sunday Herald Sun were found guilty.
