Melissa Beck is an American actress, reality television personality, and comedian. She was cast on MTV’s “The Real World: New Orleans,” where she later discovered her ability to paint. After the show, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she began a career in stand-up comedy before realizing it wasn’t for her. She appeared as herself in the MTV film “The Real World Movie: The Lost Season” (2002).

Beck gave birth to Shalom Mazie Beck, their first daughter, on March 20, 2009. Beck announced on Tumblr on August 22, 2012, that she and her husband were expecting another daughter. Maja Ilani was born January 1, 2013. As of 2022, they have three children.

In 2000, Howard was one of seven people chosen from 35,221 applicants to appear on the ninth season of MTV’s long-running reality television series The Real World: New Orleans. MTV producer and showrunner Andrew Hoegl explained that she was chosen based on her audition tape, which he called “hysterical”, and acknowledged that the group of people who auditioned, who referred to her as “half black” and half Filipino Chris Stone, made for an enjoyable season for Howard. Filming lasted 124 days, from January to May 2000. Her 2000 MTV biography described her as “talented”.
After filming wrapped on Howard moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in theatrical representation,[1] and pursued acrylic paintings, which she enjoyed creating while living in New Orleans. She lived in Los Angeles for about five or six years. She later started a blog called Princess Melissa, with the aim of selling her photography and opening an online store to share her thoughts in writing. “I’ve always felt more comfortable showing my face,” she told The Huffington Post in a 2002 interview. “She later moved online to Tumblr and then Patreon.

Howard was ranked #1. She was ranked #92 on Maxim magazine’s list of “100 Hottest Women of 2004.” She was a member of the all-female cast of internet reality show stars on the Oxygen network’s hidden camera/prank reality TV series “Girls Behaving Badly”  which aired from 2002 to 2005. On May 22, 2020, she launched the podcast Imperfect Strangers with host Amanda Strong. In April 2022, The Real World: New Orleans premieres on Paramount+, reuniting Baker with some of her former roommates from The Real World: New Orleans.
