Maya Erskine is an American actor, singer, and writer who recognized for her roles in Man Seeking Woman, in Betas, and in Blue Eye Samurai. From 2019 to 2021, she co-created, co-wrote, and co-executive produced Hulu’s original TV comedy series PEN15 with Anna Konkle. The series gained critical acclaim and was nominated for four Primetime Emmys. In 2024, she began her role as Jane Smith in the Prime Video series Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Family – Education
Erskine was born in Los Angeles as the daughter of Mutsuko Nigatawa and jazz musician Peter Erskine. Her mother is Japanese and comes from Tokyo. Her mother also plays her character’s mother in PEN15. Erskine attended Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences before graduating from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She then attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Erskine began studying musical theater but then transferred to the school’s Experimental Theater Wing.
Husband – Children
In September 2019, she revealed her romance with actor Michael Angarano. On November 2, 2020, the pair announced that they were engaged and expecting a child. Their son was born in 2021. In 2024, Erskine reported that she and Angarano had married. Erskine announced her second pregnancy in April of 2024.

Blue Eye Samurai
She plays Mizu in the Netflix series Blue Eye Samurai. Mizu, the main protagonist of the Netflix series Blue Eye Samurai, is voiced by Maya Erskine. The titular blue-eyed samurai is a half-Japanese, half-Caucasian swordmaster who has sworn vengeance.
Mizu then devoted her entire being to her vow of revenge against her mysterious Western father. She returned to her male disguise and added orange-tinted glasses to obscure her eyes, then trained herself in different stealth and infiltration techniques such as climbing and lock-picking. She pursued leads far more efficiently and viciously than when she initially started out.
She always went alone, continuously training with her sword, and never allowed herself to become close to anybody else, for the only person she still cared about was Swordfather Eiji back in Kohama. And if anybody criticized her appearance or compared her to a vengeful ghost, she would lash out rather than run.
After some time, she was able to locate and murder one of the four white foreigners (later identified by Abijah Fowler as “Violet”). Mizu then tattooed a dotted X on her left forearm, intending to identify each of the targets she had eliminated.
Maya Erskine PEN15
She portrayed Maya Ishii-Peters, a shy and sensitive Japanese-American seventh-grader who is close friends with Anna and is mostly raised by her mother. Maya can be childish and impetuous at times, yet she makes friends with her class clown demeanor.
Anna Kone and Maya Ishii-Peters, closest friends in seventh grade, are confronted with navigating their new friendship. Anna seeks to impress her crush Alex, while Maya is deceived into thinking that Brandt and Dustin, the cutest lads in school, are in love with her. Maya realizes they are playing a trap on her and chooses to teach herself how to stand up for herself.
After being bullied by their classmates, they bonded with Miranda and her pals, spending time in Miranda’s garage drinking beer and doing whippets. However, when Miranda’s mother accuses Maya of drinking the beer, the two become estranged due to Maya’s hostility toward Anna. They eventually reconcile and agree not to consume the cigarette they had been saving for that occasion.

Nash’s parents require a blind date with a girl they’ve chosen for him, and Trey and Lisa must accompany him. The crew must deal with a hacktivist from Hobbes’ past, and Trey realizes that BRB does not have enough female users to meet his idea of a social platform. They go rogue before Demo Day, and Trey and Nash must pick between two opposing strategies to ensure their company’s existence. They encounter scandals, personal difficulties, and the decision to sell BRB. Trey must decide whether to sell BRB after receiving insider information from Jordan.
