Maureen Jeralyn O’Boyle is an American television journalist and broadcaster. She is the anchor of WBTV News 3 in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.

O’Boyle was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was one of ten children; his older brother Johnny died in childhood. Growing up, his father worked for Xerox and the family moved from New York to England almost every two years, until eventually settling in Charlotte, where his father started a private advertising agency called Timeplanner Calendars. The six O’Boyle brothers eventually took over the family business, turned it into a multi-million dollar company, and sold it in the summer of 2007!

Career
During his freshman year at East Carolina University, O’Boyle helped restart the school’s radio station, WZMB. He was also hired as a morning anchor at NBC affiliate WITN-TV near Washington, NC. She later worked weekends at WNCT in Greenville. O’Boyle dropped out before graduating and was hired by WECT in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she worked as a nightly anchor and was promoted to part-time anchor. His next stop was WMAZ in Macon, Georgia, where he worked as a host and anchor. He left television to become a host at CBS affiliate KREM 2 in Spokane, Washington.
In 1990, at the age of 27, O’Boyle was selected for the A Now national team, replacing Maury Povich. The show’s ratings increased by 15 percent and she had a higher Q score than any other female news anchor on television at the time. O’Boyle retained her current position until 1994, when she was replaced by Penny Daniels.
In 1995, he became the weekly host and correspondent of More in Los Angeles. In 1996, O’Boyle left Extra and hosted her own talk show, In Person, which ran for one season (she later returned to Extra as host until September 1997). So he starred as himself in the films I Married a Butcher and It’s OK. In 1999, O’Boyle left television to become a stay-at-home mother. She returned to her hometown to join WBTV in 2004, becoming the station’s female anchor alongside Paul Cameron. She has been the network’s main presenter and de facto spokesperson since Cameron’s retirement in 2018. In 1998, he portrayed himself in an episode of The Larry Sanders Show, where he was interviewed by director Garry Shandling.
O’Boyle works with many organizations, including the American Red Cross, Charlotte Relief League, Metrolina Second Harvest Food Bank, American Heart Association, Dress for Success, and Carolina Community Blood Center. In November 2010, he appeared in the charity edition of Who Wants to Be an Old Man; he and his partners received $48,000 for Best Service, an after-school program for at-risk youth.
